The layered aroma is inviting and a departure from the light monotones typically associated with Puerto Rican rums. The initial taste quickly expands from hints of tropical fruit to a mouth-filling array of spice, baked apple, pear and star fruit that leads to the rich, balanced finish that, besides the smoky oak flavors that you would expect to find in a rum of this caliber, includes hints of dry nuts and smoky vanilla.

Don Q Gran Añejo has matured since it was introduced in the last years of the last century to take its place among the great Caribbean rums. Still lighter in body and character than rums from say, Jamaica, Guyana or Barbados, Gran Añejois a great example of the dynamic trend toward more complex Puerto Rican rums while remaining elegant and balanced.
